Three Wheeled Buggies
Whether you're seeking a buggy to jog with or just a compact stroller for the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies provide great mobility. Their compact design makes it easy to maneuver even in tight spots.
For an easy ride, opt for a pram with air-filled tyres. Also, look for models with a 360deg front swivel wheel. However, they are susceptible to punctures so be prepared with an repair kit.

Sturdy frame
The latest figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled buggy - that noughties symbol of more money than sanity is in a decline. 3 wheeler pushchair have been replaced by four-wheelers that can handle a wider range of terrain, yet still look elegant and easy to push.
The general principle is that the larger the wheels are, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with rough ground and bumpy pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back also makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or over difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with a newborn baby as well as a child who was 3 years old and found it very sturdy. It was able to handle grass, cobbles and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. Kath said it felt solid to push, and very solid on difficult terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable, so require occasional pumping) come with suspension built-in, which was very comfortable for my kids.
The size and shape of the seat is a further factor to consider. It should be big enough for your child's comfort. You will also require it to recline for them to lie flat. Some three-wheel buggies offer a full lie-flat option while others only allow for the parent to be facing one.
A great option for those who want to tackle off-road and muddy trails is the Roma Atlas. It can be used as a one-person unit from birth and then adapts to take two children when your family grows. It is suitable for infants and toddlers from birth to age 4 and comes with a bumper, raincover, an improved 5-point harness, and a big padded seat. Storage options are also good with a large storage basket and zip pockets on the hood and a handy pouch on the rear of the seat unit.
Wheels with larger diameter
Larger wheels give your buggy more stability while driving on rough terrain. This is especially beneficial for buggies that are off-road. They also make it easier to move the pushchair around tight spaces. A lot of three-wheeled buggies come with the front wheels that swivel to aid you in maneuvering around tight corners, whereas others are designed for running and come with fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at the speed at which they can be pushed. This is also helpful in the event that you hit the roots of a tree or stray curb, since the front wheel will rise up to keep you from hitting it.
A majority of 3 wheel pushchairs come with air-filled tyres, which means they are able to handle a variety of terrains and are far more adaptable than 4-wheelers. They're also lighter. They are also more susceptible to punctures, and you'll require an repair kit and spare inner tubes on hand.
Some of our favourite 3-wheelers include the Mountain Buggy Core and Venicci Carbo Lux. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, "perform really well on grass, gravel tracks and market town cobbles" and are able to effortlessly move up and down kerbs. They also have a suspension system that according to her "smoothes out bumps very effectively".
Buggies with larger wheels may be quite wide, and they may be a challenge to fit into narrow spaces. This can be problematic if you intend to use it for jogging, or need to fit through doorways that are narrow when on the move. Luckily, most models have compact folding options that allow you to take off the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to Manoeuvre
One of the primary benefits to a three-wheeled buggy is that it is much easier to maneuver, especially with a child on the way. The way in which they are constructed means that the front wheels rotate on a dime and are really maneuverable which makes them perfect for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles and bumpy pavements as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and stated: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough ground, with the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also awed by how well it dealt with kerbs using the hand-operated break. I found it extremely stable when driving downhill or on uneven ground."
The only downside to this great maneuverability, is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel buggy might make it difficult to fit into tight spaces. This is something you need to keep in mind when your home is an urban area. If this is a concern then a 4-wheeler might be a better choice for you.
Bumper bar
Bumper bars are the ideal method to shield your child from scrapes and bumps while out and about. They are quick and easy to install and make your child feel safe and secure while out on the town or on the trail.
This bumper bar was designed to complement the sleek lines of your Slim Twin stroller. It features a soft, padded surface to provide a comfortable place for your child to grab onto during walks. The sturdy construction and sturdy design will ensure that your child will be able to enjoy strolling around town without worrying about falling or leaning towards the side.
The fabric sling sits snugly within the frame and not on top of the seat that is modular. This provides a lower centre of gravity for your baby at the right height and also delivers excellent weight distribution to make it easier to climb over curbs (it is much easier to push a stroller up and down than you may think). MFM reviewer Kath said it's great on grass and cobbles. It's also a good alternative for running, thanks to its air-filled tyres as well as a lockable swivel wheel.
With a stylish and sophisticated look, this bumper bar is sure to turn heads wherever you go. It's available in a range of finishes and colours to match your style. The bumper bar can be removed and put in place by a quick-release mechanism. Additionally the bumper bar is easy to clean and is made from durable materials that are simple to wipe down. This makes it a good option for families who want a stylish and safe stroller accessory.
Comfort
A 3-wheel buggy is the ideal off-road vehicle for maneuverability and performance. With perfect design and engineering, as well as weight distribution this type of buggy can turn on a dime and be easy to steer using just one hand. All Mountain Buggies pass the same rigorous stability standards and tests as buggies with 4 wheels.
The clever design of the Sport places the fabric sling seat within the frame, not over it like modular seats. This lets it have a lower center of gravity and makes it more comfortable to push, has a less weighty curb-pop (you don't have to put in much effort to push the buggy's hood over a curb) and provides greater stability and balance. With the massive rear wheels that measure 16 inches and lockable swivel front wheels and tyres filled with air that require only occasional pumping, you get a bump free ride over rough terrain, and a smoother more comfortable jog too.
The only stroller in our collection that has an adult-facing seat that can also accept the car seat or carrycot, you are able to ensure your family's future is secure and enjoy every adventure from the very first day and for years to be!
Kath who was our MFM reviewer, also adored the roominess of this buggy. There's a huge easily accessible basket that's quite spacious for a buggy of this size as well as an easy-to-use pouch that zips up on the back of the seat unit, and two smaller mesh pockets inside the hood for your phone and keys.
